THAI POOSAM PUJA

Significance:
Thai Poosam is a celebration of Lord Murugan that takes place on the Pournami (full moon) of the month of “Thai”, when the moon aligns with the auspicious Poosam star. Thai Poosam marks the auspicious day on which Lord Murugan received the divine Velayudham from Goddess Parvati to defeat the asuran Surapadman. Devotees honor this victory of light over darkness through intense fasting and rituals including carrying Kavadis, bearing Paal Kudam (milk pots), and body piercings as penance. Devotees who wish to perform special puja for Thai Poosam and be a Sponsor are requested to register at the temple office info@sivavishnutemple.com.
