Kalashtami worship is believed to remove obstacles and fears , protects from negative influences, grants spiritual strength, discipline and clarity, bestow prosperity and well-being.

Sankatahara Chaturthi (January 6) A sacred day in South India dedicated to Lord Ganesha (Pillaiyar) the remover of obstacles. Observed as Angaraki Chaturthi, it is believed to grant strength, peace, and relief from life’s difficulties through fasting, prayer, and moon darshan.
Arudra Darshanam at the Siva Vishnu Temple of Ottawa celebrates Lord Shiva’s sacred Ananda Tandavam, the cosmic dance of bliss that blesses devotees with peace and spiritual upliftment. Rooted in ancient Vedic and Tamil tradition, the festival honors Shiva’s descent to Chidambaram, his victory over ego, and the rare divine vision he grants. The celebration highlights the Pancha Kritya—the five acts of creation, protection, destruction, illusion, and grace. SVT Ottawa marks the day with Nava Kalasa Homam, Abhishekam for Sri Amirthakadeswarar and Abirami Amman, and the main Arudra Darshanam, inviting devotees to begin the year with clarity and devotion.
