ABIRAMI BHATTAR CELEBRATION
Origin of Abirami Andhadhi
Sri Abirami Bhattar, a devoted priest of Sri Abirami Amman at Thirukkadaiyur, was once asked by the local king about the phase of the moon on an Amavasya night. Immersed in his divine vision of the Mother as the radiant full moon, Bhattar replied “Pournami.” When challenged, he composed verses in total surrender to the Goddess. With each verse of the Abirami Andhadhi, the Divine Mother manifested a ray of moonlight, and upon completion, the full moon appeared in the sky—revealing the power of unwavering devotion and the Mother’s boundless grace.
